Jemimah Rodrigues and his Indian teammate Smriti Mandhana won their teams as the Melbourne Renegades defeated Sydney Thunder by nine runs in the Women’s Big Bash league in Launceston, Australia, on Wednesday.
The 21-year-old Rodrigues, who scored the best in the Indian women’s team, struck out four in his 56 football games 75 to beat Melbourne to 142 out of five. The 44-match Mandhana 64 went in vain as the Sixers were left with 133 to 8 of their 20 overs.
Everyone broke one wicket but was unable to provide much with the bats.
Harmanpreet, who excelled in the Melbourne Renegades after winning seven wickets for the Sydney Sixers in his previous game, scored just three before being shut out by Kate Peterson. Deepti scored 23 off 10 balls but it wasn’t enough to take Sydney Thunder across the line at the end.
Deepti, 24, scored 48-ball and took one of the 28 Thunders’ previous games against the Melbourne Stars, but that wasn’t enough as Bingu lost 12 runs.
