Toyota will produce its $ 1.29 billion batteries in North Carolina

Toyota is at its US $ 1.29 billion battery production facility. On Monday, the automaker said it would build the plant on the Greensboro-Randolph Megasite, located in Randolph County in central North Carolina. When completed in 2025, the facility will have four production lines, each capable of producing 200,000 car batteries per year. Toyota is planning to expand the facility to produce enough power cells to support 1.2 million vehicles a year.

The plant is part of the broader automaker technology aims to increase its battery capacity in the US. When Toyota first announced $ 1.29 billion, it said it would create about 1,750 jobs. The company says it chose the Greensboro-Randolph Megasite for a number of reasons. One of the things that is well known is that it is a place with renewable energy. Toyota says it is “committed” to using 100 percent clean power to make batteries on the site.

The scale of the project is an acknowledgment of the automaker’s ability to diversify its power generation processes. More than any other machine, Toyota has invested heavily in fuel cell technology. At the moment, it has little to show for its efforts. Outside of California, you can’t buy hers Oil Mirai-cell sedan. However, the company‚Äôs latest plans are to roll out 70 different electric vehicles, including 15 electric battery cars, by 2025.
