Australia and Sri Lanka recorded good victories over the West Indies and Scotland, respectively, on the opening day of the U-19 World Cup in Georgetown, Guyana.
Australia defeated the West Indies by six wickets, while Sri Lanka defeated Scotland by 40 runs.

Australia narrowly missed out on a 169-point West Indies player and then came back to reclaim their goal, scoring 170 for four in 44.5 overs while Teague Wyllie scored 129-86 balls. Captain Ackeem Auguste scored for the West Indies 67-ball 57.
In the other match, Sri Lanka, by choosing to beat, lost 218 in over 45.2 but the bowling unit under Dunith Welllage (5 of 27), climbed up to knock out Scotland with 178 with eight balls remaining. .
